This stuff is like dessert crack! It is seriously so so yummy! I'm all about making everything from scratch, except for this recipe, I do use pudding mix for this yumminess! Another great treat I grew up enjoying! I know there are many names for this treat, but I've heard from friends that they've had it before but called something else, but I'm blanking on the names at the moment. So I hope you enjoy this chocolatey yummy dessert!
Crust Layer (1st layer):
3/4 cup butter
1.5 cups flour
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Mix ingredients together and press into 13x9 inch pan. Bake for about 12 minutes at 375 degrees, cool and set aside.
Cream cheese layer (2nd layer):
1 (8 0z) package cream cheese
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup cool whip (you'll want the rest of the tub of cool whip for later)
Blend together sugar and cream cheese, fold in cool whip. Once the crust is cool pour this onto crust layer. Pop in fridge for about an hour or more to let set a bit.
Chocolate layer (3rd layer):
3 (3 oz) packages chocolate pudding (I usually use 2 large sugar free boxes of jello chocolate pudding)
4 cups milk
Once the milk and pudding is combined, pour over cream cheese layer. Pop in fridge again to let chill and set.
Once it has chilled for an hour or more top the chocolate layer with the remaining cool whip. You can sprinkle the top with chopped nuts or mini chocolate chips. Refrigerate for several hours before serving, keep in fridge until you serve it. Enjoy! Hope you love it as much as we do! My 9 year old enjoyed several squares on his birthday this year! It was a hit!
